The entryway of a house is one of the most important aspects of a home. My mother always said, “the way your entryway is in your home, it defines who you are”. I never understood as a young girl but as I started to create a home I started to understand. There’s a feeling that unleashes when we walk through the front door. What kind of feeling do you want to set? An entryway is a core area of a home. This is a place you want to focus to make a home feel warm and inviting. This space should be intentional and functional.
What to consider:
-The entryway sets the tone of the home.
-Choose functional items: Coatrack, hooks, baskets, welcome mat, key tray, mirror, bench, chairs.
-Make a statement/ Character: Choosing a large oversize mirror not only makes a functional item but also is a great statement piece. Lighting, unique flooring, art pieces, antique items, and furniture are also great ways to incorporate a great first impression.
– Add coziness: with a scented candle or lamp to add cozy lighting.
I use my piano as a mantle I style it differently throughout the seasons. I added plants around the piano just in time for spring and the decor could lead into summer. I added an antique print I found at the thrift store to add character. My round oversize mirror adds a great statement and the adobe brick walls add warmth.
I have so much lighting in this area so my plants thrive in this area. Plants add life to a room and with the terracotta pots, it adds warmth. Spring is in the air so I added extra plants to this space giving it a fresh spring feel. A counsel table with plants and stacked books adds style and character of the home making it feel inviting.
We have large families and have quest and family over quite often. I added some hooks to hang up their coats and hats. I added a metal basket for shoes. I love using metal baskets because of they a much more heavy-duty. We use it daily and they seem to hold up so nicely for us.
