The Ranch, Before & After pt. 1-Living Room

My sister moved from the suburbs to a ranch. On the property, they had some stables with a small ranchers apartment connected to it. The apartment is a two-bedroom two-bath with a kitchen, dining, living, and a loft. They currently live in it, but they hope to make it a guest house for friends and family who visit. It’s a beautiful place to see, and they have the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets with endless views.

The house was dark, and it felt so small. The wall color was too dark, and the windows were too small. They transformed the space by removing the kitchen cabinets & stairway railing. They gave the whole house a fresh coat of paint and added new laminate wood flooring. The metal railing was custom-made from a welder. The original windows were removed and replaced by larger ones making the room feel bigger and brighter. A HUGE WIN!

For the living room, they wanted a natural airy color palette. Kimberly already had the sectional, which was the only piece she had when designing the space. We added a beautiful Loloi Rug. The colors genuinely bring out the area, and it’s a mixture of light greens, browns, and creams. The rug is the statement piece for the space.

The panels are from Amazon. They are an excellent price for the quality and size. They are stunning linen, and it’s great for families with small children.

The brown coffee table and raw wood side table added warmth to the space. We added books, wood bowls, and stems to bring the area together. Table books are a perfect way to add style to a coffee table, but they are also great to look through.

Adding cozy throw blankets and pillows makes the space feel super relaxed. We got most of the throw pillows from Target, and they are affordable and easy to replace. Things to consider when you have large families and small children.

In the cabinet, we added vintage books and decor pieces we collected from the antique shops. The cabinet is my favorite piece of furniture in the whole room.

It was so fun designing this space for my sister. It feels inviting and comfortable. Every time I walk in, it makes me want to stay for days. Stay tuned for pt. 2. the kitchen
