It’s been a dream come true to build our forever/ dream home. I cannot wait to create endless dreams and memories with my husband and children. It truly is a dream come true! A house that will be formed into a home by the cherish memories created by our growing family.
We took the first step to create this house into a home by adding a meaningful HYMN to our fireplace. This is Derik’s (the hubs) dad’s favorite HYMN, who unfortunately passed away many years ago. “There is beauty all around when there’s LOVE AT HOME.” The HYMN couldn’t be more perfect for us. The whole experience was very imperfect. We grabbed a quart of old paint and old paintbrushes, jumped in our truck, and drove to our new home. Derik wrote the quote with his simple handwriting while the kids painted around the fireplace, and we each smothered our hands with wet paint and placed our handprint on the bare wood. It was such a perfect moment. Standing back and cherishing and soaking it all in was what I thought my whole life would feel to build and create a home together as a family. Its the simple things we do that make the experience so beautiful. Having my kids create beautiful memories that will never be forgotten are the moments I live for.
These are moments we will forever cherish. I feel grateful to be able to document this beautiful time in our lives as we build our dream home. Just go for it, grab some leftover paint and old paintbrushes and get creating.
